About
I am a PA state certified ArtTeacher with over 30 years in the public schools. I teach very small groups for a relaxed experience. We address painting techniques and design strategies so each student can grow from where they are rather than starting over. materials provided so there is not a big initial investment.
I enjoy sharing my creative energy. I love to see when students experienve that initial ah ha when they can think like an artist, not like " a copy cat."

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We begin with a basic drawing demo that emphasizes drawing only what you see rather than what you know. We sketch from a stillife, paint in watercolors or acrylics highlights and shadows. Layer a wash of local color then final details. This layering approach help students to move away from a coloring book style habit.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters Degree from Rochester Institute of Techology, Rochester, NY
I taught Art in the piblic schools for 30+ years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$35 per lesson per student. I think its more fun to have 2 or 3 friends at a time.
How did you get started teaching?
I studied Art in college
What types of students have you worked with?
I taught kids Art K -12 in the public schools for 30+ years. I have always had Adult students also evenings and summers. This is who I am. Art is my passion. Teaching is a great retirement job...fun, exciting and flexible.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The local Art Association does Plein Air painting. We gather weekly at different historical sites and make paintings on the spot. Great way to meet people, makes you take time to paint, and you get to see wonderful historical buildings and gardens.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who is comfortable, relaxed and confident. You want a teacher to be able to offer a variety of experiences and skilled use of materials. You want someone who will expand your creative sense and develop a new way to look at this world.
