About
I have over 20 years of experience working with all ages in private, one on one, group, classroom, and bands.
I enjoy figuring out each individual person and what their needs are and learning styles. Everyone learns differently and not everyone wants to play the same songs!
I started playing piano at 3 years of age. My mother is a professional pianist, vocalist and teacher so I had access to amazing teachers early on. I had the opportunity to play clarinet, trumpet, violin, cello and saxophone all before graduating high school.
Junior and Senior years of High School, I won Superior Ratings in 4 Piano Competitions. Judge remarks were "Fluent, expressive, balanced and technically correct"
"Wonderful mastery of tone and balance"
I decided to major in Piano Performance and minor in Cello for college. I graduated in 2003 with a Bachelors in Music.
In 2003 - 2006, I taught Band in a JR/SR Private school.
In 2006 I decided I wanted to stay home with my small children so I taught private lessons extensively.
2015 found me back in the classroom teaching Band, Orchestra, Beginning Strings, Elementary Ed., Choir and Ukulele!
To say that I am well rounded musically is an understatement :)
I love finding what fits each student the best. A learning style, approach or adjustment is sometimes all the little change that's needed!
I have had experience with minor learning struggles as well such as ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, visual tracking issues, autism, coping, and performance anxiety.
