I let my students have fun.I have been painting for forty years. I paint from life and from memory and have painted in Hawaii, Italy and Alaska.I have a studio in Warren, R.I. where I host small group painting sessions (2-3 students per class), and I also teach private lessons to individuals. I take a modern approach to my work and my classes. Cezanne and Picasso are two of my favorite artists. I place strong emphasis on composition and color and mood in a painting. I encorage experimentation. I will also include a little art history in the lesson.
I believe in keeping it simple. Big shapes, flat color, good composition. I can teach anyone to do a painting in two hours. I am a certified teaching assistant at East Providence High School where I work with special needs teens. I have taught at Newport Art museum art camp and my studio is on Main st. in Warren R.I.
I love painting from life,nature and I enjoy helping others.I like having fun when I am teaching. I try to encourage my students to loosen up and not be afraid to make mistakes.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask them how much experience they have and what they hope to learn from me. I will provide them with a photo to work from or we will copy one of my paintings. We also do copies of other artists such as Picasso and Matisse. Each student will be provided with canvas and paint and we will work on the painting step by step together.We will paint outdoors if the student desires to do so. I also mix in a little art history each class.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. from Providence College where I majored in English. I am a certified teaching assistant in East Providence at East Providence High School where I work with Special Education students. I maintain a busy studio/school in Warren, R.I. I have been painting for over forty years and show my work in local and regional galleries.
