Michelle was extremely patient and helpful while she was teaching me. I am in the process of learning acrylic painting. Her lessons where great! I plan on working with her more in the future.

I was looking to improve my watercolor skills. The knowledge that Michelle shared with me was outstanding. I have become a much stronger painter thanks to her!

I wanted to make my own holiday cards and Michelle hooked me up! We did a six week session of printmaking with linoleum blocks. We started with ideas, then I drew a couple of themes and picked a design. She showed me how to carve the designs and how to layer them to get what I wanted. Her studio wasn't too far and I had fun. Now I can make my own cards with new designs every year. It was cheaper than taking a class at my community college, too.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We'll discuss goals and dreams and figure out the best way to achieve them.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

By fifth grade, I could draw a likeness of other students as models in Art class. At thirteen, I was able to spend my first summer studying art and drawing at Swain School of Design. I majored in art and design the last two years of high school and went on to graduate from Parsons School of Design in NYC with a BFA in Illustration. I have learned from the best instructors and can relate those lessons directly to you.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Yes. My standard rate is $50 for a one-hour weekly lesson. This includes travel up to 30 minutes if I'm traveling to you, or if we're meeting in another place to paint or draw. If you'd like to learn how to paint, or create images another way, (we'll use whatever medium you prefer - pastels, watercolor, oils, inks, etc) I will provide materials for the first three sessions. After that, I can help you find art supplies at an affordable price. If you want to explore mediums, this is the best way to go without investing in materials you might not love.
