Hello Everyone,

I am a local elementary music and flute teacher in the Columbia/Lexington area. I am looking to add new students to the flute studio!

I hold and undergraduate degree in music from Winthrop, a Master's of Arts in Teaching from USC, and I have played the flute and piccolo for 16 years! I would love to get you started on the flute or piccolo or help you to improve!

Ms. Waitt teaches my daughter and helps her with lessons for the all-region audition coming up. Her rates are definitely worth every penny! Already my daughter’s band director has said there’s been a lot of good results and it’s only been a few months. She is so excited to audition and I think she’s going to get in! I strongly suggest her flute lessons for any mom looking to get their child into all-region. (It’s also a lot more beautiful to listen to these days! LOL!)

Ashton is so patient and sweet when she teaches! You can tell she has had a lot of experience in teaching by the way she takes her time with you and meeting you where you are. I appreciate her teaching me and I’m excited to perform at my church every week with the chorus!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

When starting with a new student I would like to meet with them in person to assess their ability level, mouth position, current pieces, and to learn what they are hoping to achieve or improve on.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I hold an undergraduate degree in Music from Winthrop University and a Master's in Arts in Teaching from USC.

I have played the flute and piccolo for 16 years and I have also studied abroad in Ireland.

I am currently an elementary school music teacher and I taught private flute lessons in college.

How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching lessons by tutoring other students in my highschool band and then went to college to become an educator.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with all types of players, beginners to advanced.
