About
Hello! My name is Brian Mills! I'm a 27 year old former college baseball player. I pitched all throughout lower level baseball and all the way through college as well. I also played at 1st base and in the outfield. Pitching and 1st base are my two most favorite positions! I am a baseball enthusiast and I have been playing baseball since I was just 4 years old. I love to see the end result just like everyone else. But, to me, the best and most important part is the details. I wish I would have learned this as a younger player , but I am just as glad to know the importance of details now to be able to pour into young athletes today. An athlete can be extremely talented, but without the details and the right tools, that is all they will be remembered as. When you watch the greatest of all to play their respective sport you will see that the way they play the game is because they paid attention to the details. I believe I can offer you the knowledge and tools necessary to focus on the details and to elevate your game to the next level.
I love teaching! Watching a student grow from "point a" to "point b" and so on is fulfilling. I understand each student learns differently and I enjoy that challenge of learning the student to be able to teach them as efficiently and effectively as possible. While success is the end goal, the process of learning is just as rewarding.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will usually begin with a skill assessment. This will help me determine your strengths and weaknesses (it's okay to uncover weaknesses; that's how we get stronger). From there I will suggest a few positions I believe in which you will excel. I will then create a program based on which position you desire to pursue. If more than one position then I will charge an extra fee for that specific positional development.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 23 years of baseball experience. I have played from age 4-11 in rec ball, middle school, high school, and went on to play in college. I played all outfield positions, 1st base, and pitched. I split my time in highschool and college pitching and playing 1st base. My coaches in high school and college were wise and poured a great deal of knowledge over me that I have kept and continued to grow in to this day.

How did you get started teaching?
I didn't realize I enjoyed teaching until I became a camp counselor in the summer of 2013. I am also currently a youth leader at the church at which I am a member. I was able to be a part of the coaching staff this past basketball season (2020-2021) for JV and Varsity boys. We made states with Varsity; losing in the semifinals. And we made the championship game with JV but ultimately losing that game as well. I continue to seek out ways I can teach simply because I enjoy seeing my student succeed and enjoy the benefits of hard work and dedication.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with kids of all ages. From coaching 4 year olds in Soccer and basketball to mentoring college students in life in general.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I believe in taking all factors into a decision. Making wise choices will only help you develop into a better you. Contact me or whoever you want to work with to see if you and the teacher are the right fit. It is okay to be picky when it comes to who you will learn from. Hopefully I can be said person!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
You should think through if this teacher will be a good fit for you both.
Ask specific questions about how you can improve. Don't just let the teacher come up with lessons when you know you have a specific goal in mind.
Ask yourself about your "why". Why do I want this? Why should I pursue that? Why?
Don't be afraid to ask for help. If you don't understand, ask for clarification. A good teacher will take their time to help you.
