About

I am an award winning artist with a desire to share my craft with others. I have taught workshops at local galleries. The mediums i teach are watercolor, pastel, and alcohol ink. I have taught adults and children as young as 8 years old.

I firmly believe that every painting I work on teaches me something new. I think that is why I love to paint. It is always a learning process.

    Frequently asked questions

I will firat seek to understand the student's goals and preferred medium.  I will engage him/her  in hands on exercises to help him/her understand the process involved in the chosen medium while, at the same time, teaching composition, value structure, color harmony and the ingredients that make for a successful painting.  I demonstrate everything so the student has a visual example of what is to be accomplished.  Each lesson is grounded in theoretical and practical knowledge.  The learning process is fun and reinforcing.

I have many years of participating in the local art scene, exhbiting in galleries and professional offices, winning multiple awards in juried art shows, and serving as officer of local art guilds.

My pricing depends to a small degree on the cost of supplies for the chosen medium.  I love teaching and hope to make it affordable to the interested student.  The length of each teaching/painting session helps to determine the price.

Giving workshops at a local art gallery, retirement communities, and civic organizations.

Adults of all ages, children as young as 8 years old.

I participated in a "quick draw" competition, producing a pastel painting in 30 minutes while spectators watch.

I think it is important for a student to learn not only technique but an understanding of the underlying principals applicable to any art medium.  The teacher should be able to present the ideas of composition, value structure, color theory and harmony in a positive way that is easy for the student to understand.

What are their goals?  Do they have a particular medium they want to learn?  How much time will they want to invest in practicing between sessions?  Are they more interested in representational or abstract art?
