I was looking for someone to teach me how to paint and I happen to find Aly through an internet search in my area. I am extremely glad I found her. What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I have a face to face meeting via the internet where I encourage future students to show me the art work they have done. During this time I listen to their expectation and we develop a path to develop their interest/talent. Then proceeding to using the Skype for example, to deliver the lesson.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I hold a BA in Fine Art and MA in Education

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My price is based on one hours lessons, but can be altered according to students needs. All requests are considered and joint decisions made.

How did you get started teaching?

I attended Kean University and graduated with a BA in Fine Art, immediately started teaching in public schools and privately since then.

What types of students have you worked with?

All ages starting from 5 years old in public schools to senior citizens in private lessons.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

My students participated in a "Pein Air" , which means painting outdoors.The weather was wonderful, students were delightful along with their talent producing beautiful landscapes.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would advise to find someone that has their students interest not only at heart, but listens to their needs and can fulfill that requirement.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Firstly, they should know what they want to achieve by looking at any work that they have produces, even if it is doodling, to clarify that interest. For example, are they happy just drawing? Do they pick up something to add color to their work? Secondly, they should think of other people may have mentioned how good something they did looked? What was it, a drawing? A painting?
