With over 20 years of photography experieince and over 10 years of photoshop experience along with a Graphic Design degree, I have a deep well of experience to draw from to help you understand the principals of photography and light, to help you see the composition and how to edit in whatever style you want to create for yourself.
I love being creative, I love helping other people succeed. There is almost as much satisfaction from when a "student" succeeds as when I have a success.
I love feeling like I am a little peice of the final puzzle of someone's story.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It's really dependant on where each student is in their progress. Usually it starts with a portofolio review, so I will go through their website, or facebook etc. and take some notes. I will then ask them about their style, or what style they are wanting to acheive and also then ask about their process, and what they feel they need to learn. From there I can coach them on tips, through a phone call and / or skype. Usually I will chat with them before a shoot, they will take the tips/tricks and I will re-evaluate the shoot and show where they succeeded, and help mentor where they went astray etc. If they are local, we can set up a shoot to learn in realtime.
Depending on the needs of a student, I can then help them create pre-sets or actions that work with their style and workflow. Teaching them how to use LightRoom and Photoshop, through Youtube or in person really depends on location and what is available.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a photographer for over 20 years, starting first with film and moving to Digital about 10 years ago.
I have a graphic design degree.
I have advanced knowledge of Photoshop and Lightroom from 10+ years of working with these programs
5 + years of running my own business as a photographer and 3+ years of being a retoucher for other photographers.

I generally charge by the hour. $30/hr
How did you get started teaching?
Honestly, I first started teaching because my husband wanted to be able to take photos of the kids, and then I figured I'd teach him so he could be my second shooter at weddings! From there, I found that on Facebook and other platforms I was often giving advice and from there a few people would ask me to mentor them or help them with particular skills etc. So via skype or phone we would chat and do that kind of thing.
What types of students have you worked with?
Usually photographers or design students that just need a bit of help learning particular skills or tools in the various programs.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for the education, not the style/look/business etc. You want someone who understands the WHY not just the HOW in order to really learn what/how to get the look you want everytime.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are they looking to learn and what are you wanting to get out of it. Even if you don't know where to start, knowing where you are and where you want to be helps set up a plan!
