I’m an visual artist, with over 20 years experience teaching and selling art. I’m an art professor at the University of Memphis, teaching painting, printmaking and drawing. I’ve exhibited across the country and my artwork can be found in private and public collections. I encourage my students by fostering their own creativity.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start with basic concept of drawing and or painting. Each class is a process of learning and exploring new concepts and ideas to strengthen your artwork. Each week a new assignment is given. We will work on strengthening basic elements of design, composition, and improve drawing and painting techniques. Class schedules vary.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Just completed a 5 week mural project with the youth at Juvenile court. To see how the arts can impact our most act risk youth was encouraging.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be willing to work hard and be open to criticism.
