About
Approach:
I specialize in teaching players "guard skills". I begin with introducing a concept, practicing the concept, and then implementing semi-live drills to make the concept applicable in game situations.
Background:
I have been coaching and training hoopers for nearly 20 years. I was a point guard for Bridgehampton Highschool under the tutelage of NY State Hall of Fame coach Carl Johnson.
As a Player:
During my high school tenure I lead my team to two state championships in 1997 and 1998. After High SchooI, I attended The Winchendon School in Massachusetts in an effort to bolster my recruitment. I was recruited to play basketball at several Division III schools on the east coast, but ended up focusing on my education.
As a coach:
While in college I began coaching. I coached my former high school in summer league. Additionally, I took on a role as a counselor at the late Anthony Mason's summer basketball camp. I became the head varsity coach for Sierra Ridge Academy in San Andreas, CA where I led my team to several playoff berths and was the coach of the year in 2008. Currently I am the director and coach for East Austin Basketball Club in Austin, TX
Education:
I have a Bachelor's degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and a Master's Degree in education from City College in New York City.
Other: I am and assistant principal at IDEA Public Schools
Summary: My background as an educator and knowledge of basketball help me to develop individualized plans to help hard working players attain their goals.
