Exceeded expectations! We needed a safe and fun place to take a group with a mix of firearm experience, and Darryle did a great job starting from square one and making sure everyone knew what they needed to know to be safe and start hitting the targets with confidence. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
DCK process for new students consist of gather initial knowledge on the students level of knowledge regarding firearms, the use of firearms along with state & local laws.
All classes start with a gun safety class which includes the Four Rules For Gun Safety.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
•Retired Texas State police after 27yrs of service.
•Basic Instructor and firearms instructor since 2008.
•Six years on the Swat team for the state of Texas
•Attended Sig Sauer Master Rifle School. Sig Armor, Remington shotgun and Mossberg armor.
•Low light training
•Shooting house training & simunitions training.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing vary per level of training, lenght of class and if I have to provide a weapon and ammo.
How did you get started teaching?
Friends wanting me to teach them how to purchase and handle weapons. Working as a Firearms instructor for the State Police.
What types of students have you worked with?
Friends and family from 18yrs old and older, male and female. I started my daughter on gun safety and shooting in the 3rd grade, she now 20 and loves to shoot.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Most recently I had a young lady come to me the morning she was going to class to get her LTC. She had never shot a weapon and only had 15min for me to give her a crash course. She passed the class with no issues but I highly recommend that you train before taking the class.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If they talk more than they listen to your needs and goals PASS. Watch out for pricing for product delivered.
