Michelangelo wrote, ''Inside every piece of marble is a creation waiting for life.'' My painting, sculpting, and even my etch-a-sketch art is not something that begins externally and wakes us up internally. It is an Internal process that when everything else is chipped away, produces a creation that was already there. My job is to help you awaken the creation within. I don't always follow tradition or technique, but I always follow the essence of peace one feels when the creation is finished.
I enjoy the passion and inspiration I feel when I begin each new piece. I have discovered the secret of ''wild creativity.'' Who says the paintbrush and the paint have to be the only things that can produce beautiful artwork? Have you ever used Rock Salt to add sparkles to the water? Have you ever imagined using string to add linear depth? How about Dill Weed for abstraction? Have you ever considered Peroxide and Alcohol to acrylic paints and made them look super abstract? Would you ever add a mojnd of superglue to a still wet paintine in order to warch the interaction of the two chemicals within? (Hint: It's really cool!)
I have tried many different things in order to obtain the best results, and I can help you to find inspiration within!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to evaluate where each student is in his/her process. Then I like to to build on their strengths and combine techniques with the awakening of their imagination through the creation experience. Art is uniquely indiividual, unlike physics, where laws are universal. In the arts, there are far fewer limits on what can and cannot be put together. Learning to think with intuition over repitition is probably what most students would say is something they really get out of my classes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Minored in Art History, High Middle Ages and Renaissance
Studied for a semester at Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze (The Academy of the Arts in Florence) which is the same school Michelangelo, Tintoretto, Bellini studied.
