I’ve recently had the pleasure of working with Jieun to create two abstract paintings and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the experience and results! She guided me through the entire process, from conceptualizing my ideas to helping me choose the right colors and techniques. She has a true gift for making the creative process so enjoyable!

I came to Beth with 40 years experience in printmaking, needing an introduction to acrylic painting. She had a broad variety of artistic tools to show me including creating/selecting colors, different brush strokes, and different approaches to portrayals (impressionistic, realistic and abstract). Jieun Beth is talented, fun to work with, and flexible in tailoring her approach to students needs. I highly recommend Jieun Beth!

Frequently asked questions

After learning about students' intentions, I tailor my instructions based on students’ desires. I recommend new techniques, mediums, and approaches through demonstrations. I usually let students to be in their "zone" to create, and I will offer methods to handle brush, mix paint, experiment with brush strokes, teach color theories, guide with perspective drawing, etc. There are various ways to approach painting, and I will help students find paths that suit their goals.

I received my Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art with emphasis on drawing and painting from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013 after receiving Bachleor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Savannah College of Arts and Design. I have various art teaching experiences through private tutoring, volunteer teaching and in higher educations. Currently, I am the Exhibition Coordinator at the Austin Central Library, curating exhibits, art installations and displays.

Teenagers (13-18): $30/hour ($130 / 5 classes)

: Lessons focus on students developing awareness of social-related events and any external phenomena for students to investigate, visually translating their perspectives. The lessons help students to form personal opinions and share them with others in visual forms. Students will be introduced to art history, color theories, drawing techniques, etc.

Adults (19+) $40 hr

: All stages of adult students are welcome. The goal of the classes is to aid students in learning techniques and methods that are aligned with the students’ interests, preparing them to become autonomous in their style and techniques as independent artists.

I worked with students with various levels and backgrounds, including private tutoring of beginning level students of all ages, intermediate level adult community art courses, and advanced level students from Higher Education settings.
