The Sandbar Art Studio
About
The Sandbar Art Studio is a place for creatives to connect with creatives. Artist owned and operated by me, Adalea Howell, an artist specializing in acrylic art forms! When I am not creating pieces, I am a pre-K teacher and studying Special Ed to provide Official Art Therapy classes through The Sandbar. I have a passion for teaching and a passion for painting and I can't wait to connect and create with you! Check out www.thesandbarartstudio.com
My favorite thing about giving art lessons is watching the person I am teaching become more confident in their abilities and start to truly see the image that's in their mind be translated to their work. It is an amazing feeling to see somebody blossoms artistically.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I like to work with each person to figure out their own individual style (you can't love what your learning if it isn't your very own style!) whether it be abstract or realism, we will pinpoint which direction your likes are leading you then move into inspiration and technique.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
With a grandfather who was a professional artist, I was taught by him at a young age before enrolling into the Woodlands Academy of Art, where I learned my love for acrylics. After that, I dove into my own style and started to teach myself.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
From a young age I was determined to be a Special Education teacher for people with mental and physical disabilities, yet my passion for art seemed to always seep it's way into anything else I did. I soon came to the conclusion I CAN DO BOTH by mixing my love for teaching and my love for art by becoming an art therapist.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with a various range of students, as young as 3 and as old as 40! I've also work with students who have disabilities.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Pick somebody whose style you are fond of. You can't learn how to paint a portrait from a landscape artist!
