Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 20 years of playing experience. I lettered 2 years in high school, played 4 years of collegiate basketball and 2 years as a professional in Europe. My coaching knowledge has been built over these years through experience, countless hours of game study, documentaries on players, drill/skill breakdowns, volunteer coaching for camps, paid coaching for American and international teams, etc.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My sessions are priced mainly by the session. The pricing will need to be inquired about through contacting me. I also provide prices for group sessions, team trainings, camps and league play.
How did you get started teaching?
I began by volunteering time to my Jr. High school while I was a Varsity player in High School. I also helped out with many camps and the annual special olympics tournament we held every year at my school.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages and all different backgrounds. I love diversity and getting to know people from different backgrounds. When I coached in Europe, I had the opportunity to coach a 16U Boys team with 14 players from 12 different countries.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In 2019 I coached 16U, 14U boys and 17U girls. My girls team played in the Battle of the Bayou in New Orleans, Louisiana where we took 2nd in the silver bracket and 6th overall out of 200+ teams, with only 6 girls on the roster. I have yet to coach a team with more heart, determination, and chemistry as them.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher who goes beyond the skills they are teaching. Someone who gets to know the student more than the student is getting to know how to do what they want to do. A teacher who is always working to get the absolute best out of the pupil.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Can I match the work ethic of my teacher?
Can I fulfill what they are expecting?
Am I committed enough to see long term results rather than a short term fix to what I lack?
All of the answers should be yes.
