Paint And Sculpt
About
Paint and Sculpt is led by Kathy Boeckman, an artist/art historian with two decades of teaching experience. Kathy began painting at age 9 and has mastered oils, acrylics and watercolors. She earned an MFA in sculpture from Sam Houston State (1999). Kathy's proficiencies revolve around installation (assemblage and basic construction techniques), welded metals and mold-making and casting (all media). In 2018, Kathy completed an MA in Art History from the University of Houston. Her teaching experience with children includes a long-term substitute position for grades K-12 and Summer art camps for the John Cooper School. For adults, Kathy taught Assemblage and Foundry I & II classes for the Glassell School (2000-2005). She has taught Art Appreciation for Lone Star College for the past two decades.

To whom it may concern,
Hello, my name is Harold Siefert. I have known Kathy Boeckman for close to 18 years now. I took classes at the Glassell School of Art and started out knowing nothing about art, except to look at it. I had been laid off from my banking job, was worn out and decided to take a break.
So, I started taking a class in sculpture, for I thought I'd like to learn to weld. This is where Kathy comes in. Her foundry class was next to my class and I could not help but notice their projects and how the teacher interacted with the class. My next semester I took her class. I knew nothing!
Kathy always was there to answer any questions we may have had. She would always walk around helping newer students, giving advice on thoughts they may have, and guiding them. Foundry class with all the difficult steps was made much easier because of her. I really appreciated that in her, for it was not true with my first teacher there. She gave us tests to see what our knowledge levels were. She helped us think outside the box. Her ability to connect with her students and her talent at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior. She made me to want to be there, engaged. I was around her a lot for I became the class assistant after a couple of semesters. She is a wonderful person.
I believe Kathy would be a great addition to your University, she just is one of those special teachers you were lucky to have met. I appreciate her.
