Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have the hobby lobby classroom for 2 to 3 hours. Hobby lobby on sawdust Road, on Kuykendahl, and in Conroe on different afternoons/early evening. I do not work for hobby lobby. I've painted for 40 years in various mediums, member of local art leagues,Award-winning artist. Facebook gives a good representation of who I am and what I do.Each Paint Party ends with your finished painting to take home.I provide all supplies. No experience necessary. Please contact me. Thanks.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been creative since I was raised in the desert of New Mexico! I did pen and ink as a young adult. I became a Christian at 27 and feel like the Lord gave me a whole box of colors. I call it the "pray and paint method" ! I started by praying and painting until it looked right and added 40 years of practice.I have sold my fine art for years/mainly oils,But watercolor and acrylic also. The Paint Party uses acrylics and it's called "fun art" And is great for beginners. I love to see my students go home happy with their painting, especially if they were leery that it would turn out right!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$35 per adult/18 & up per lesson/paint Party
$25 per student 10-17 per lesson/Paint Party
I will negotiate if there are several siblings or college students.
How did you get started teaching?
I taught oil painting for six months in Conroe,TX. 15 years ago Because my neighbors requested that I teach them. I have just recently started the Thriving Artist Paint Parties. It was also a suggestion by a neighbor/policeman. My first party was for police officers in acrylics.I just had the seventh party for Valentine's Day.
