About

AIA Aviation was founded over a decade ago with the intention of turning people into private pilots. Our curriculum has helped over 150 different pilots get licensed and certified from our home base location in Addison, TX.

Earning your wings is not difficult, as long as you put in the effort and follow our curriculum. Here are some of the things you can expect from AIA Aviation:

I will work one-on-one with you throughout your flight training.

I will provide you with study materials to help you pass your FAA Exam. This study courses are available on mobile devices, PC/Mac, or DVD.

We will hold regular ground school sessions to help you prepare for your final examination.

I will be available to answer any question you may have during the course of your training.

I have a syllabus that takes you step by step through process. It is broken up into the following phases:

Phase 1 – Pre-solo training. Learn the basics of flight and how to control the aircraft. We also learn maneuvers and emergency procedures. Everything that you need to know before you fly the airplane for the first time by yourself.

Phase 2 – Solo Flight. Solo flight is defined as you flying the airplane by yourself without the instructor. You will actually fly the airplane without your instructor in the right seat. This won’t happen until we both feel you are ready.

Phase 3 – Cross country flight. We take flights away from the local area and get into the true meaning of flight – going places!

Phase 4 – Check ride preparation. At the end of your training you will take a check ride with a flight examiner and upon successful completion of the check ride the examiner will issue the license right then and there.

It REALLY is that simple.

As long as you do your part, you will graduate with your Private Pilot License. Our success rate – following our phases – is over 97% pass rate.

Student success!

I have developed many lifelong friendships with those I have met in aviation.

It's a great community.

I am a Certified Teacher through the State of Texas as well as Certified Flight Instructor from the FAA. I know what it takes to help YOU succeed!

I got my first flight into actual instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) yesterday morning with Torrey. He is a great instructor!
After the flight, I high-fived him, taxied back to the hangar, paid, got endorsed, then drove home with a big dumb grin on my face. I can’t wait to do that again!

I have wanted to learn to fly my whole life. After moving to the Dallas area, I searched for a flight school and visited several big schools.
I was most impressed with Torrey and his professional approach to flight instruction.
The personal approach they provide makes all the difference.

I started teaching because I was sick of the corporate world.  I found a way to share my passion for flying with others.

I have worked with students as young as 11 and old as 78!

I work with busy professionals, students in high school, college, military and many others.

Just had three students succesfully pass thier checkrides and are now pilots!

Look for experience.  It matters.  I have given over 4000 hours of instruction.

Do some research.  Many schools look attractive but lack the personal touch that is critical in success.
