About

Hi! My name is Moriah, and I'm an artist here in Dallas. I've had about 15 years of intensive art training, including at the university level, and I graduated at the top of my class from the prestigious Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. I've been featured in numerous galleries and both print and online publications, and won awards for my work at Maryland Institute College of Art.

However, none of that is what makes me stand out as an art teacher. I'm not only an artist, but I also have extensive experience working with children. In the past 7 years, I've worked as a summer camp counselor, babysitter, and both part-time and full-time nanny. I've cared for kids ages 0-14, using Montessori methods. I bring this experience and approach to private art lessons, and encourage my students to express themselves and grow while learning specific art skills. I love to grow my students' confidence and self-esteem as well as their skills! Art is a powerful medium for both.

I've taken every top art class and portfolio class in Dallas since I was a child, and I believe that even the most expensive class with the most prestige can't compete with the one-on-one attention that private lessons offer. I'm pleased to be able to provide that option to everyone, even if the "investment" studio classes are out of your price range.

I offer both art tutoring and private lessons for students ages 3 through adult, and private art classes with up to 10 students per class. Upon request, I also offer portfolio classes to prepare your student to apply to Booker T. Washington HSPVA or an art school at the university level. I create my own curriculum, tailored to your priorities and interests, and can work with you when it comes to scheduling.

Moriah was fantastic!! I took private art lessons with her over the summer, and I was shocked by how much better my painting and drawing skills were by the end. She did give me homework, but it was really helpful to try to practice what we’d worked on together. My favorite part was how flexible she was with the lessons. A few times I mentioned something specific I wanted to study or work on, and she incorporated it into our next lesson, which made it really fun and exciting to go to class. I plan to take a sculpture or multi-media collage class with her in the future!

You can tell that this is a subject Moriah is truly passionate about, and she shares that passion and energy with her students. You can see this in her interactions with students, and her love of art is reflected by the students themselves. This is someone who wants to share her love of art with her students and the world and pass on her knowledge and passion to her students.

Moriah creates a personalized approach to determine what the student is interested in and what they enjoy, and finds ways to incorporate that into her lessons. She makes them fun and educational.

Frequently asked questions

Please reach out through email at [email protected] for all pricing and scheduling questions. We can set up a phone call to discuss what your goals are for art lessons, and go from there!

I've had about 15 years of intensive art training, including at the university level. I graduated at the top of my class from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. I've been featured in numerous galleries and both print and online publications, and won awards for my work at Maryland Institute College of Art. I've also taken just about every art class in Dallas, and I've based my approach on what I would have liked to change in my own experience.

I've worked with a wide variety of art students, from adults with no experience, trying art as a hobby, to college students studying art, to kids ages 4-12 having fun making art during the summer! I've also worked with a range of mediums, styles, and types of art!

Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions! Private lessons are closer to a partnership than a student-teacher relationship; we're going to be working together closely to achieve your art goals, so it's important that you feel comfortable with me or whoever you work with.

Be prepared to explain your experience with art, your goals and expectations, and of course your schedule! It's also helpful if you can explain to me what's worked for you in past art classes, and what didn't.
