About

There are those whose do, those who teach and those who do & teach. Not all doers are teachers - or good teachers anyway. This journey is about you. Ensure you pick the best teacher and pick the best student/teacher fit. I teach those who have the inner drive to be real guitarist and musicians. If that is you, it will be a good student/teacher fit and my job will be to help you make the most of your journey.

I like how Jeff sends us a bunch of materials hes created himself to help us with technique and theory, as well as emailing updates to all his current students together, making it feel like a little community (which I didnt expect, and I was pleasantly surprised). He caters the lessons to your goals as Im trying to learn more advanced theory for songwriting. Even though most lessons are through zoom, he can see each little nuance of my guitar technique, and he does a great job explaining how to correct it in a way where I can really visualize and implement the changes. He doesnt chastise you for not practicing when life gets busy, especially as Im a full-time working adult trying to learn in my limited free-time. Lastly, I really appreciate how he sees and acknowledges my progress, especially when its hard to see it myself!

From the start Jeff has been great. The study material and his teaching technique show passion about his craft and desire to teach. I highly recommend especially for those older students that want to learn but are hesitant for any number of reasons. Jeff will help you feel comfortable and eager to move forward.

In my short time with Jeff, I have learned as much or more than I had in 3 years of prior guitar lessons. He draws from a wealth of knowledge about the guitar, music theory, and the science behind how we learn. His passion is evident, and it’s clear that he gets as much joy from teaching as I do from learning. Jeff is not for the casual guitar player looking to impress at parties. He’s for people who have a passion for music and want to become true musicians. Given that he doesn’t do this for a living, he’s incentivized to only work with students with whom there is a good personal fit. There’s no harm in giving it a shot - after the session you can decide together if it’s a mutually beneficial partnership. I chose Jeff over several highly-marketed music studios in DFW, and I’m very glad I did.

This is not my first time learning guitar privately online. Over the past few years, I invested a lot of my time and money to try to find a good teacher whom I can really learn from and inprove my skills and knowledge as a beginner guitarist. I havent really gotten where Id wanted to be as a musician, however despite of my effort. When I found Jeff as my teacher, things have been drastically changing rapidly. Just over the course of few lessons with him, Im already progressing, understanding, and leaning a lot more than any of the previous teachers, videos, or online courses Ive ever come across. His teaching method is very unique and specific to each individual so its totally different from anything else Ive tried so far. He is very patient with me and specific with what I need to learn and practice. I really feel like Im attending a top level music school but even better because Im learning one on one with Jeff, the top level music teacher. I live in Atlanta, GA so my sessions are being conducted exclusively online via Zoom but I dont see any difference if Im learning in person in a room with him. He has a big white board behind him and writing down what I need to learn. Learning from him is a totally gift from heaven. Anyone who really wants to progress in guitar or wants to become a great musician, I think he is truly the one to go to. I consider myself as an intermidiate level but he can tailor his teaching to accomodate any levels. One regret that I have now is that why I didnt go to him sooner. I wouldnt have wasted 2 years of precious time trying to learn guitar. Becoming a great musician, I now know that I need a great teacher. I need the proper training by skilled, knowlegeble, talented teacher. Thats who Jeff is without a doubt.

Learning lots of great things from Jeff. His approach to teaching is different than other teachers I have had. He emphasizes advance learning techniques to develop your guitar playing skills faster than I have learned in the past. Dont get me wrong these teaching methods are not the easiest to follow but the results are impressive if you commit to the process.

Frequently asked questions

Very structured based on the student's goals.  Each student usually work on 4 of the main tenents of music at a time for overall growth and variety.  Which 4 those are depend on the student, where they are and where they want to go.

I have studied with Andy Woods, Rody Elias - retired university jazz instructor in Canada, Matt Warnock and Bruce Arnold who is the head of the NYU and Princeton guitar departments.

I studied music at the Univeristy of Central Oklahoma and enjoy watching students as the "light goes off" when they grasp another musical concept or when the element they were working on comes together.

$50 for a full hour and full time access to me via email and texts to get your questions answered between lessons.

I enjoy playing but enjoy helping others more.  So I helped people I knew and their feedback was that they had never learned so much in an way that made sense and was easy to grasp.   So I branched out and started helping others.

13 year olds to senior citizens.  I only take Jr. High and High School students who are motivated and committed to learning music.  I teach music and "just happen" to use the guitar to facilitate that learning transfer.   In the process, the student becomes a good guitarist but also a real musician.

Almost all events are the same: a person tries to learn via youtube videos or a book or someone they know that plays guitar they don't make much progress for all the time they put in.   They come to me and immediately start to make progress on the first lesson.  I am proud I do that for them.

The best thing I can tell you is that if you only want to dabble with music, I am probably not your guy.  If you really want to improve your quality of life through music, then I am  willing to spend my time helping you.

Be very clear about what your desired outcomes are when enterviewing a potention instructor.  Don't let them push in a diretion you don't want to go.  Pay attention to your emtions and physical feelings when you are interviewing them and take note of any red flags which make you unsure or uncomfortable.
