About
Hello! Kudos to you for taking the first step on your creative journey!
Have you ever looked at a beautiful piece of art and thought "I wish I could do that." You can. All it takes is practice.
I can break things down for you in a way that makes sense to you, show you the easy, reproducible steps to create the beautiful art that you dream of making. I firmly believe that anyone can achieve their artistic goals, no matter how young or old they are.
Let me help you start today!
I love all things artistic, from realistic oil painting to hand embroidery. I have a broad range of interests and proficiency in many painting and drawing mediums.
I love to help students learn. Nothing makes me happier than seeing people's eyes light up when they are able to be creative when they thought they couldn't be.
I have a particular fondness for introducing art to beginners, non-creatives and disadvantaged populations. I have volunteered teaching arts and crafts to foster kids weekly for over a year. This has given me tremendous insight into teaching from the ground up, and how creativity can transform people's lives.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initial phone/internet consultation is always free.
The way I teach is very laid back, and dertermined by what the student needs and wants.
We start by sitting down and discussing your goals. Do you want to do this as a career, or as a hobby? Art doesn't have to be "serious" or intimidating and anyone can achieve their goals with practice.
After this, we would talk about what inspires you. Do you enjoy landscapes? Figures? Still lives? Do you want to learn to cartoon with pen and marker, or create hyper-realistic oil paintings? What mediums do you want to try? If you're not sure, I can help you decide. I have expertise in many areas.
Finally, we would discuss teaching style. Do you want me to sit back or observe, or get my hands dirty? Would you prefer me to explain, or watch while I work? What level of constructive criticism are you comfortable with?
I can tailor my teaching style for all ages and all skill levels.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself:
-Are you looking to learn art as a hobby, or as a potential career option?
-What skill level do you consider yourself at? What are your artistic strengths? What do you want to improve?
-What kind of art and artists inspire you? What mediums are you interested in learning?
