Hi, my name is Ben and I am originally from Pittsburgh PA. I also go by Jack. I have been a student of music for 15 years. My musical influences include Rock, folk/country, classical, ska, punk, metal, Christian contemporary and I also enjoy just plain old acoustic. In my lessons, you can expect to learn the basic skeleton of playing guitar. Some music theory.The fundamentals come first. After that we leave it up to you to be creative. Cause that's what music is all about. Basic skills and fundamentals in combination with creativity and talent. Your goals and what you want to accomplish are extremely important. I don't want to teach you a style that you don't want to play. although being diverse is very important. I teach acoustic or electric. I have toured with old ska/punk and metal bands growing up. But now I keep it more relaxed by playing at my church and just doing solo singer/songwriting on the acoustic. I can play almost any genre. I can teach Beginner to intermediate. I also record, produce, and master music from my home. So we can have a little fun and record stuff if you'd like that too. Hope to meet you soon!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
my father was a very talented musician. He was the one who got me started. i took professional lessons through out life and also everyone learns a little on their own through experience and trial and error. plus i learned from touring and playing along with many other talented musicians. the learning never stops.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
standard pricing is $40 for an hour. $25 for half hour. That includes me coming to your location. no extra charges for that. and no extra charge if you need to use my spare guitar.

How did you get started teaching?
my wife actually said i should.. haha . so I just started teachig friends and family. and then i decided it was really fun. so i figured why not make a career out of it.
and its still fun everytime.
What types of students have you worked with?
adults, children , teens. male or female. beginner to intermediate skill levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I put out an acoustic solo album. Completely solo and DIY. recorded and produces it in my home. Search for jack Defibaugh anywhere you download or stream music.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
are you serious about it? cause it takes time and dedication. you'll need to stick with it, stay persistent, and practice what i teach you. :) but its so worth it. and its so much fun!!!
