What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We have an initail consultation to assess the students needs and abilities.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 35+ years of experience behind the camera with the last 16 as a full time professional photographer. I host workshops, groups shoots, one on one mentoring, as well as teach photography on the college level at Dallas College.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
A typical one on one mentoring session is $250/hour. I also offer weekend boot camps, 3 month, 6 month, and a Joe to Pro plans. Feel free to inquire about rates for such.
How did you get started teaching?
I started by assisting a friend at a workshop he was teaching and grew into teaching my own events.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with people who have never picked up a camera before all the way up to full time professionals.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The most recent photography event I hosted was a glamour group shoot featuring a well known Playboy model from the Czech Republic. We had a good group of photographers of various skill leves in attendance. One of whom has had several images sets from the event published in multiple magazines so far.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Check the instructors portfolio. Then ask yourself: Are those the kind of images you want to shoot?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your goals? What is your level of experience?
Is there something specific that you would like to learn such as lighting or settings? Is there a ceratain goal you would like to accomplish such as getting published?
Would you like to simply take better pictures or are you looking to make photography a career?
