How did you get started teaching?
I am a nurse by trade and realized that alot of people were not knowledgeable in CPR. I wanted to make a difference so I started Absolute CPR Training we strive to make sure our classes fit the budget of our participants. It' about saving lives.
What types of students have you worked with?
Foster Parents, College students, Churches, Daycares, School Staff, Students Elementary, Middle and High School, Fitness Instructors, Girl & Boys Scout Troops, Healthcare Professionals and Lays person.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We promoted a CPR fundraiser for a local church and basketball team called the family & friends course which allowed us to train the organization members m/ communuty and the organization received a portion of the earnings.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the entity is following the up to date guidelines. Be careful for online courses because they generally are not accepted by employers.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What course is needed? Does the cost include the manual and card? How long does the certification last? Does the curriculum follow AHA guidelines?
