About

I have been teaching flute for almost 50 years, with many students making All-Region and All-State bands.

Janice has placed the flute since the age of 11. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) in 1968 where she studied with Dr. George Morey. Since that time she has studied with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Julius Baker, Karl Kraber, Jeanne Larson of the Dallas Symphony, and Jan Crisanti of the Fort Worth Symphony.

Ms. Spooner is active as a private flute teacher in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area. After 27 years as a Spanish teacher, she retired from Richland High School in 2001. During her time there she was the sponsor and choreographer of the Richland High Fiesta Dancers Ballet Folklorico, and she was listed in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" in 1990, 1998, 2000, 2002, and 2005.

Janice was the principal flutist with the Irving Symphony Orchestra from 1970 to 1988 where she preformed as featured soloist. She is the principal flutist with the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving where she preformed as soloist in 1996 and 2003, and principal flutist with the Fort Worth Civic Orchestra since 1979. She was the featured soloist with this group in the 1998-1999 seasons and again in 2005. In addition to playing principal flute in the Northeast Orchestra, where she performed as the feature soloist in the 1999-2000 seasons, she is a frequent recitalist ad adjucator in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. She is the director of Flutissimo! Flute Choir and a charter member of the Philharmonic Winds Woodwind Quintet. She also performs with the Texas Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. She is a member of the Texas Flute Society, National Flute Association, Harmony Club of Fort Worth, and the E. Clyde Whitlock Music Club.

Everything -- I love music.
