Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In an initial class I would assess what a student knows and see if there are any gaps of knowledge along my "Roadmap to Success" track. The roadmap ensures that nothing falls through the cracks and that students have a strong foundation before pushing forward.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a BA in Music from the University of North Texas. I taught private lessons for Denton ISD, Lewisville ISD, Stomp Music Studio, and The Music Academy of Denton. I taught group classes at the UNT String Project, The Corinth Academy private school, Messiah Lutheran Classical Academy, and Westlake Academy. In addition to this experience I am also the owner of Da Capo Music Academy in Keller where we have impacted over 1000 students over the years!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I founded The Music Room to help reduce costs for families to take music lessons. My current rates are:
$49/mo for automatic recurring payments or $19/class for drop in students.
How did you get started teaching?
My first experience in music teaching was in high school when a freshman wanted to play cello in orchestra. That year I helped him catch up to his peers who had years more experience and he finished his freshman year as 4th chair out of 6!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages and backgrounds. From 4 years to 72, from no experience to students who have played for 40 years.
