I enjoy working with motivated flute students of all ages and levels. My approach is to guide each student in exploring their creativity and expressing their individuality through music. In the course of lessons, students gain valuable training in artistry, critical thinking, problem-solving, perseverance, discipline, goal setting, public speaking, and performance.

I've been performing professionally and teaching flute students for over ten years in Houston. I graduated with a Master of Music from Rice University and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Cincinnati. Please visit my website at www.izumiflute.com.

Izumi’s flute lessons are efficient, to-the-point, and ensure students improve in the shortest amount of time with proper practice. In addition to her own mastery of the instrument, Izumi generously shares material by other masters from her own ongoing learning journey, and experiences from her diverse performances spanning from classical symphony orchestras to contemporary ensembles. She is tremendously inspiring and highly recommended for anyone starting or re-starting to play the flute at any level.

$45/60/90 for 30/45/60 minute lessons, respectively. I offer a discounted rate for college students.

What types of students have you worked with?

All ages and all levels! I've had students ages 4-75, from beginners to college music majors.
