Krystal W. Brown Fine Art
About
My Art is a physical manifestation of my desire to enrich and uplift. My very own beautification project. Born out of a love for creating and loosing myself in the process. It is my joy. It is a way for me to contribute.
There is a little piece of me in everything I do. Each of my creations is generated from a physical response to a visual scene, a memory, or an idea. Often a personal longing or challenge that needs to be filled.
My vision is to bring more beauty and impact through my fine art. To illuminate, connect, contribute and help others create their world.
My mission is to offer fine art oil paintings created with joy and love to beautify the world you live in. To bring value and share my process through workshops, demos, classes and online instruction that will help you add your unique voice. Someone is waiting for what you will create.
If each of us who are compelled to create did so the world would be so much better for it. It's my desire and goal to share my joy and love of the creative process. I think of it as a beautification project. A beautification project that is taken up and adapted and given life by each artist adding their voice to the symphony of life. Just think of what a wonderful view that would be.
I'd love to help you gain the tools and expertise to unleash your voice, your view. To offer insight that will help you find or fine tune your voice. To aid you in sharing your voice and why this is so essential. You are compelled to create and there is somewhere, someone waiting for what you will bring into the world. Let the Beautification begin!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
One on one video call to asses students needs and coordinate schedule.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA with an emphasis in Painting. I've studied with Dan Gerhartz, Rob Liberace, Clayton Beck, Susan Lyon, Scott Burdick, Jeff Hein and I am continually seeking to grow as an artist.
I have facilitated and done workshops of my own as well as hosting a life group weekly in my area.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rates are based on wether it is individual instruction, small group instruction, workshops, demos, and if travel is involved. I teach out of my studio and have limited slots for instruction.
How did you get started teaching?
I was asked to demo and discovered I loved talking about the process. I am always grateful to share all my knowledge to help others create their art. I love helping others find their voice.
What types of students have you worked with?
I used to teach children but now limit my instruction to adults, 16 and older. I've taught small groups, one on one and online. I demo for art leagues and galleries and offer scholarships to women at all of my workshops.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My last workshop, "Painting the portrait from Life with Accuracy". It was full and a wonderful experience. The students were from 17 years old to 80!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you resonate with their art as well as who they are. Some wonderful artists aren't great teachers and some great teachers aren't producing artists. You should be able to find both. If you hope to sale your art find a teacher who sales their art. If my student has a goal, for example to paint more accurately, then it is much easier for me to instruct them properly.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have a goal, have a preferred medium and don't hesitate to ask the instructor how they plan to help you meet your goal. Be open to their response. I had a student who wanted to paint better in oil. She struggled with draftsmanship so I recommended that she focus on drawing first. As her drawing improved we moved into paint and she found greater success.
