Developing real artists - not just a babysitting service with cookie cutter art projects
Maureen is a talented artist and both of my girls taking lessons from her. She provides them with personalized instruction on sketching, painting and various art forms. They are learning fundamental techniques for approaching any art project they desire to tackle. They have grown as artists. They have thoroughly enjoyed every lesson and can't wait for their next one. Maureen has been such a blessing to our family.

Excellent tutor! Very flexible hours and locations.
Our daughter absolutely loves her weekly lessons with Maureen! We are very impressed with everything she has learned so far. Not only is Maureen an excellent teacher, she also offers multiple locations for lessons and does everything she can to meet the clients scheduling needs. She is supportive, encouraging and a great artist too!

I love inspiring others to find their inner artist, no matter what medium. Giving confidence with honesty is something very important to me since artists are sensitive and getting started can seem daunting at first.
I try to make sure each student feels good about what they accomplish during every lesson, whether it's their first or their ninety-first!
The scope of my experience and continuous learning is a constant benefit to all my students.
not only am I highly trained but also experienced producing, exhibiting, marketing my own art.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I get to know what the student is looking to learn and I like to review ANYthing they may have done before: drawings, paintings, doodles...If they don't have anything, I start from basics: what is a pencil? what is the difference between a filbert brush and a round brush? how does one create the illusion of 3D on a flat piece of paper?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BFA, University of Houston
Glassell School of Fine Art, Full scholarship

How did you get started teaching?
I've been teaching since 1998, when I started with Lone Star College in The Woodlands
What types of students have you worked with?
Over the years and continuing, I work with all ages, abilities, including autistic teens and adults, CEOs who wanted to add to their experiences, intermediate painters who wanted to take their work to the next level, people who think they "have no talent" who learn to draw and paint in spite of themselves and brand new beginners!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I'm an independent contractor for GOLDEN Artist Colors, located in NY. As one of their Certified Working Artists, I give lectures to universities, art leagues and other groups about the different properties of acrylics, oils and watercolors and I show them some of the many possibilities of creating art with those mediums. I do workshops and lectures/demonstrations all over the southeast area of Texas.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Give me an hour and you won't be disappointed!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What will I learn? What supplies do I need to purchase? What do current and previous students say about the teacher?
