Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We talk a little about ourselves & share what they know. From there we look at some artworks & share one another the interests.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been drawing at a very young age, 5. I have taken art classes since middle school. I have my bachelor in Studio Arts 2005, Master of Fine Arts - 2D 2013. I have taught elementary 6 yrs, 3 yrs in community college, and summer art camps as well. I am currently an adjunct at Lee College.
How did you get started teaching?
I was a substitute at an elementary school in the valley. Within a month I realized that I have a passion to teach. So, when i thought of teaching a class that I love, I knew it was going to be an adventure & rewarding. It has been, and still in the teaching field.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire someone that gives you freedom to be creative, to be there to give you guidance and to also inspire you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have you researched your questions? What is it that you may want & how can I help you to get there? I believe in a open communication that both can learn from. For together, you will reach your goals.
