Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During the first session at AMSG, we conduct an enhanced assessment of the individual athlete. Our goal is to identify the athlete's strengths and weaknesses, as well as areas for improvement. We use a variety of tests to evaluate the athlete's technical skills, work ethic, and mental state.
Based on the results of the initial assessment, we create a personalized training program that targets the athlete's specific needs. This approach allows us to help the athlete progress more quickly and achieve their full potential.
In addition to technical skills, we also focus on the athlete's mental state and work ethic. We believe that these factors play a crucial role in an athlete's success, both on and off the field. By helping athletes develop mental toughness and discipline, we empower them to excel in soccer and in life.
Finally, we agree that a game setting is an important part of evaluating an athlete's soccer IQ. This provides valuable insights into the athlete's ability to think strategically, make quick decisions, and work effectively with teammates. At AMSG, we use this information to further customize our training program and help athletes become well-rounded players.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, which I obtained in 2017. Additionally, I am certified in First Aid and CPR.
With over 20 years of experience, I have worked with athletes at all levels. I began playing soccer at a young age and have played at various levels, including starting in basic level clubs at age 4, and then progressing to play with the top team Albion Sc San Diego from the ages of 15 to 18. I later played NCAA Division 1 soccer at California State University Fullerton and transferred to Houston Baptist University for NCAA Division 1 soccer.
Throughout my playing career, I was offered 10 professional contracts from teams around the world. However, due to a career-ending injury, I was forced to retire early. This experience has given me a unique perspective on athlete training and development, and a deep understanding of the importance of injury prevention and rehabilitation. I am committed to helping athletes achieve their full potential and reach their goals, both on and off the field.

How did you get started teaching?
"I have always been a player coach on the field because of my position (center mid). Helping people grow in the same passion as me really inspired me to start coaching. Despite having to retire early due to injury, I have been fortunate enough to offer my experience to others and help them achieve their goals."
What types of students have you worked with?
Elementary, Club, Academy, college, and Professional levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of our clients, a 14-year-old player who prefers to remain anonymous, is an incredibly talented soccer player but initially struggled with a negative attitude. At AMSG, we took the time to work with him and address both his skill and his mindset. Through patience and persistence, we were able to help him develop a better attitude on and off the field.
We are proud to report that this athlete has experienced a transformation not only in his soccer performance, but also in his overall demeanor. By holding himself to a higher standard and adopting a more positive outlook, he has gained greater respect among his peers and coaches.
At AMSG, we believe that cultivating a positive mindset is a crucial component of becoming an elite athlete. We take pride in working with each of our clients to help them reach their full potential, both as players and as individuals.
