Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First day of training I would like to play a game of 25. This sets a free play atmosphere, allowing me to watch and learn the player.... I would then focus directly on what is going to make the player better right now. Ball control (both hands) passing ability, low post work, footwork, vocal skills, and last but not least teamwork. While mentally preparing them to be great later... (The "Great" is work ethic based) As the student makes progress so does training!!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I play HS football and basketball at Lakeview in Garland Tx.. I also coach and trained players around the DFW in GBBA & AAU for 10+ years.
How did you get started teaching?
I started Out Coaching with my Neighbor in GBBA in 2003. He had never coached basketball, he was a great soccer coach.. with his coaching skills and my knowledge of the game we had four great seasons. By this time I was introduced to a Aau coach by my best friend.... and began doing city ball in the winter and aau ball in the summer up until 2014 when my son was born..
What types of students have you worked with?
I have work with student fresh of the couch, never played competitive basketball as well as students who play college basketball right now!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I just recently watch one of my students while on summer break play in showcase!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If u wanna be a better athlete you definitely need to hire a teacher of the sport u want to excel in..
