About

Hello, my name is Jacob “Jake” Purvis. Having studied the skills you desire to develop within yourself, I am confident I possess the necessary experience and skill needed to train, and instruct you in this essential undertaking.

To start with, I speak, and write clearly, I naturally establish relationships of trust with people. I possess excellent problem-solving capabilities, I am comfortable in chaotic environments, and effectively manage significant, demanding, workloads. I am diplomatic, and professional when providing direction, counsel, and correction.

Personally, I strive to maintain a positive attitude, behave in a dependable manner, act decisively, remain energetic, self-motivated, and essentially ambitious. I value ownership, integrity, high standards, ongoing learning, and team work. I believe in helping, motivating, and inspiring others when they are in need. In a similar manner, I am sincerely passionate about coaching, developing, and training people.

I served with distinction, and established a reputation as an extremely competent peace officer who consistently exceeded my Department and community expectations. I earned the privilege to serve as a Field Training Officer where I worked as a patrol training subject matter expert (SME) where I dove deep, and focused on simplifying learning processes for newer officers. I theorized, and improved learning by developing training which emphasized individual officer safety, individual officer competence, and perhaps most important, focused on fair, and unbiased behavior which each officer exhibited with respect to the diverse community they served. I thoroughly enjoyed my 24 1⁄2 year law enforcement career until retirement in July 2020.

I joined the Amazon team in July 2021 in Forney, Texas. I knew nothing more about Amazon than I love my Kindle, and my wife absolutely loves getting next day packages.

The Company is amazing. I am currently assigned to the Learning Department where my team, and I are the first contacts, and initial exposure for new employees onboarding into our building. Our efforts help perpetuate the greatness of the company, and introduce associates to what Amazon is all about. I honestly never expected to find a private sector company, that like the County I worked for, focused so passionately on the human being, and dedicated so much time, resource, and energy on developing people. I am grateful for everything I have experienced with my Amazon family.

Recently, I returned back to college after a 14 year hiatus to finish my Bachelors degree in Political Science. Amazon is picking up the tab: grateful.

I know I am ideally qualified to train, and coach you primarily because I have an established track record of successful training in my current, and previous employment experience.

Over a five-year span, I trained 26 individual officers in 4–8-week training assignments to prepare them for difficult, demanding field service assignments. After their training, I continued mentoring, assisting, and coaching them in their professional field work, and in their next steps toward California State Licensure. After completing training with me, 95% of the officers remained in field services, and earned their State Licenses.

Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the learning process in your effort to personally develop yourself. The type of person I am means I will always behave, and strive to be a positive role model for others, and keep your best interest in mind. I will make sure I take personal responsibility for my ongoing professional development, and hope that you have the same desire. If you select me to assist you arrange things in your life, you will not regret your decision.

After, and during training, I will be available for continued support, and counsel. Your training is the beginning, you're personal development, and eventual mastery of skill is the drive, and will not happen overnight.

PERSONAL SUMMARY

I maintain a positive attitude, and strive to provide a high level of customer service for my current employer, Amazon. I speak, and write clearly in a variety of communication settings. I enjoy coaching, developing, and training people as a rule. I am diplomatic, and professional when it comes to providing direction, counsel, and correction.
