About

I am a Cretified License to Carry Instructor, and I specialize in new gun owners, and new shooters. I teach firearms safety, grip structure, sight picture, recoil mitigation, point of aim, self defense and CCW. I personally train tactically with LEO and SWAT professionals weekly. In addition, I am a competition shooter with USPSA and CTASA. I compete with my colleagues monthly and participate in monthly tactical challenges. I specialize in the new shooter, bridging the gap between "I've never shot a gun", to someone who is safe and proficiant with their firearm. I teach shooting drills and provide my students with techniques that they can then practice and enjoy on their range visits. I love seeing the techniques I teach to students, result in that student becoming a safe, capable shooter! Visit:

It was my first time ever firing a gun and Russell was very patient with me. I plan on using him again and would recommend him as an instructor.

    Frequently asked questions

I meet my students at a local gun range, and work with them for 1 hour.  I specialze in brand new shooters, and teach them firearms safety, grip structure, sight picture, recoil mitigation, stance, point of aim, what ever their needs are at each lesson.  As my students become better shooters, I can move to more advanced instruction with them.

I am a DPS Certified License to Carry Instructor, and a Certified NRA Firearms Instructor

I train tactically with Law Enforcement Officers, and SWAT Team members, and Professional Competition Shooters weekly.

I taylor my instruction to my students needs and capabilities, always aiming to help them achieve proficiency and become better shooters.

I began taking lessons and classes like "Foundational Pistol", "Applied Pistol", "Foundational Rifle" and "Applied Rifle" with professionals, who emphasize the fundamentals, and above all firearms safety.  As I began to progress as a shooter,  I began to qualify with the NRA an the Texas Department of Public Safety for teaching certifications.  Once I achieved those certifications, I started out training friends and family, until now taking on students.

I specialize in new shooters and new gun owners!

I have attended several classes and range days with a community called "Average Joe's".  These classes culminate in big range days called "Average Joe's Range Day".  These range days consist of several stages of pistol and rifle training, and many sponsor stations.  The event ends with the two top performers on the day competing for "Top Shooter".  These range days are amazing!!

Make sure your instructor is willing to demonstrate any skill he/she is teaching you.  If he/she tells you your going to need to go home and dry fire the skill 10,000 times before you can see results, they are just letting themselves off the hook.   If you can't perform the drill before the lesson ends, chances are he is not teaching you right!
