Steve Thomas Studios
About
Hi I'm Steve Thomas. I've been a musician for 50 years, and have been teaching guitar for 20 years.
I teach both in person at our studio in Lewisville, TX, and around the world via the internet.
I'm primarily an acoustic guitarist myself, but also play bass and drums. I studied at the UNT School of Music in Denton, where I was a member of the UNT Lab Band. I've been a practicing musician ever since, playing rock, country, jazz, and many different styles. I was a Music Minister and Worship Leader for many years, leading worship choirs and bands.
I love music and love teaching. After teaching a variety of subjects for many years (I teach several Computer and IT subjects to corporate clients, and have been teaching CPR and First Aid for over 30 years), I applied my passion for teaching to music in 2000. I currently teach guitar, bass guitar, and music theory. .
I love helping students find out what they want to do with music, then helping achieve their musical goals. The fundamentals of music and of the guitar are the same no matter what style you want to play. That's really the fun of it, exploring different styles and artists. Once you have the basics down, the musical world is yours to explore!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For new students, we will first set a time and date for the first lesson. We'll first talk about what the students expects to have happen, what they want to accomplish, they style of music and playing they want to work toward. We'll also talk about the mechanics of lessons, and talk about instruments. We also will have a lesson that first day. Students should plan on having a guitar in their hands EVERY lesson, and should prepare to practice every day.
Lessons are generally once a week, and 30 or 45 minutes (the longer lesson means we have more time to actually play through material in class).
