About
The Hull Art Academy is locally owned and operated by Mary Kearney Hull. Mary attended school at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and holds a degree in art from the University of Central Arkansas. She teaches classical skills and conceptual art for a total well rounded package of skills and creativity. Mary’s artwork has been shown around the country and was recently apart of the 2017 International Women’s Works and also exhibited at the Reese Museum and many more. She has had work published in Poet and Artists international art magazine and the “Nature Inspired” international art book.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We teach the classic drawing and painting skills first and then teach the artist how to be conceptual and how to represent themselves. We have a gallery space as well that we use to represent our top students.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
It is not just me that teaches there. My teachers all have different backgrounds and degrees. Some our college level professors with masters in art.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A high school student that we were building an art portfolio for got into my old school, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a paid scholarship. Very proud and more of those happening.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look at their education, website, interview them, show them your work, see where they have exhibited their work currently.
You want an artist that is current and can help promote you as an artist.
