Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to begin by getting related to you and finding out what matters to you, what is important to you and what you are committed to achieving. I assess what you have been doing, what you have and how you are being about what you want and then design a plan specific to you to most rapidly advance towards your goals. I provide exercises, skills, techniques, and philosophy/theory while uncovering what is in your way in order to propel you into your dreams.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music therapy with advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy and the TaKeTiNa Rhythm Process in addition to being a registered Massage Therapist and Yoga teacher. I have also been trained in HealthRhythms and other drum circle facilitation methods and studied percussion in West Africa. I was president of the nonprofit Drums Not Guns and am the founder of the nonprofit Creative Arts for Social Action and lead therapist and founder of the Rhythm Therapy Clinic. I have taken and continue to be trained in individual and group facilitation and life coaching and provide multi-modal therapy for individuals and groups of all ages and abilities.
