Infinitely Many Solutions

Hello my name is Stephanie. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics, a minor in Secondary Education, and a decade of experience as a classroom teacher. I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I am also currently certified for 8-12th grade Mathematics in Texas. I have worked with students of all skill levels which include but are not limited to dyslexia, ADHD, ADD, autism, deaf, blind, English learners from throughout the world, mental health issues, and gifted children. This year I have decided to leave the school district and tutor full time. I've been tutoring peers since I was a sophomore in high school and prefer the intimacy of a one-on-one or small group sessions over large classroom settings. As female minority in STEM I hold a positive influence of inspiration to children who may not see adults that look like them in this industry. I’ve been in classroom for a decade and needed to make some extra income. I started working with a tutoring service this year and loved the connection I was able to make working with students one on one. Working individually or in small groups with students is more productive and enjoyable for me and my students. We can focus on their goals and struggles academically and personally. We have the opportunity to build a stronger connection than we can in a class setting. This produces a stronger impact on each child I work with. My goals are to help kids learn how to advocate for themselves, build confidence, and reinforce drive and motivation. Life continues to place difficult problems in front of us everyday. If I can teach a student how to ground themselves and push forward in critical thinking and problem solving they will carry that ability though the rest of their lives. The kids inspire me. We can aim for progress with success instead of perfection with disappointment.
