As a former Collegiate National Champion on Trampoline I began coaching professionally after graduating from Houston Baptist University in 1976. When I first came to Houston I saw that there was a need for a different approach to the style of Gymnastics that was being taught at the private Gymnastics schools in Houston. I planned on providing a professional style of Gymnastics that didn't exist in Houston prior to 1973. Having grown up in the Midwest where Gymnastics was at a very high level, I was anxious to share the knowledge I had learned from my previous coaches. After graduating I took a coaching position at the top private Gymnastics school in Houston, which was Finch Academy of Gymnastics. My Boys team became State, Regional and National team champions. One of my students was named as a Junior National Team member and within 2 years I was named as 1 of 5 Junior National team coaches. My mentor was a Japanese Gymnastics coach who was widely considered the greatest coach in the world. He was the Director of Men's Gymnastics for the United States Gymnastics program. As I continued to coach my Boys team and the Junior National team I decided to open my own Gymnastics school in 1979. After over 30 years of coaching my own students at a very high level I decided to sell my school and retire. My decision was partially based on the fact that I contracted a Staph infection in 2009 and nearly died. So I haven't been actively coaching since 2011 and I've decided I have too much to share with students that want to learn the correct approach to Gymnastics.
I Love the look on the faces of my students when they learn a new skill that they have been working on
