Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to see where each student's level is at and then throw in certain projects that give the student the opportunity to show what skills they already obtain and what they need growth in.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to Abilene Christian University and got my BFA in art education. I also minored in Graphic Design.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For ages 8-13 only up to 2 siblings at a time. All other lessons are one on one. Lessons can last 1 - 3 hours.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always known it's what I wanted to do. But my own high school art teacher is who inspired me to really become one myself.
What types of students have you worked with?
From ages 10- 18. From special needs students , to beginning artists, to AP seniors.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had three of my students go to State for VASE.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who is patient. I think as long as they don't ruin your love for art, the best teacher is patient but still has their expecations.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have I tried it myself? Have I done all the teacher asked? Is the question pertaining to the project at hand.
