I LOVE the flute and play all of them (the piccolo, c flute, alto flute and the bass flute)! I also direct a flute choir. My teaching includes all ages. I have my degree in flute and have been teaching for 44 years.
Teaching others how to play the flute is fun for me--in getting to know others and in seeing them progress in their flute playing.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I check the student's instrument first to make sure there are no leaks or problems. Then I listen to her play. For beginners, we work with the head joint first. If she can't read music, we also start there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA with specialty in flute. I have studied privately with numerous outstanding teachers. I have played in symphonies ( piccolo} for 20 years, in flute choirs (alto and bass flute) for 12 years. Have directed my own flute choir for 19 years. Have also played solos for various situations.
