I have 10 years experience in teaching painting and drawing at university and college level. I have taught beginners and advanced students my passion and love for art education, and my experience in the classroom have prepared me to be an effective teacher.

My teaching philosophy focuses on laying a strong foundation with technique and growing from that foundation towards theory and concept. I equip my students with strong technical skills that emphasize art elements, art composition, color theory, and a variety of mediums techniques. My goal is to provide students with enough skills to begin making art that deserves critical discussion.

    My daughter and I decided to take up art together and we found Roya Art through lessons.com. Neither of us had any formal instruction before. We have now completed two acrylic pieces and one oil and have started our third acrylic, close to 20 hours of instruction. We are thrilled with it all.
    Roya has taught us:
    1. How to draw the dimensions to arrange the set for the painting.
    2. How to mix colors to get the desired color.
    3. How to chose colors that have the right contrast and do not conflict or distract from the rest of the painting.
    4. The process for painting starting with the darkest colors and moving to the lightest.
    5. How to add shadows and light reflection.
    6. How to paint transparents.
    It has been so much fun. And we have learned much in a very short period of time. For all you parents who are looking for something to do with your children, And those of you who want to learn how to paint or better your artisitc skills, we highly recommend Roya Art.

My goal at the beginning stage is to provide students with enough skills to begin making art that deserves critical discussion. Building on this strong skillset, I then advance students towards veriety of art movements and styles, and critical thinking. Each of these elements is critical in allowing students to master a sense of concept and the ability to critic others and their own work.
