Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
ALL CLASSES START WITH SAFETY, REGARDLESS OF THE STUDENT'S FAMILIARITY WITH FIREARMS!
After safety, I determine the student's familiarity level with the firearms AND the type of training that will be done. Just because you've shot at paper targets doesn't mean you'll be good on a tactical course where you are moving around.
Once familiarity is determined, if the student is new to firearms, in-depth safety and handling instruction is given, such as maintaining muzzle awareness, using the safety, clearning the firearm, etc. Next is target ASSESSMENT (ie. What's around and behind them), then trigger control/breath control, etc. Once the student has proven that basic safety guidelines can be adhered to, then other training move forward at the pace of the student. These things cannot be rushed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 6 years of Military experience with firearms, which include 3 years of combat in Iraq. I was an instructor for over a year in the military and led soldier's in combat and combat training for 3 of my 6 years in the Military. After exiting the military, I consistently sought out additional training opprotunities and knowledge bases to continue my growth and regularly provide training at my place of business.
