Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We offer a free assessment to first meet the student and answer questions and teach a trial lesson so that they can see how we teach. It's also a good time to just get to know one another and see what kind of instrument they have and go over their goals and what they hope to learn from studying at our school.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Minda Keene has over 23 years of music teaching experience and has a degree in music education from Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and a business degree from Florida State University.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our 30 minute private lesson is $175 a month and that is for four lessons. Our 45 minute private lesson fee is $245 and our 60 minute private lesson fee is $300 a month. Our annual registration fee is $75 for children ages 3 to 18 and adults are $65 a year.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was enrolled at Salem college I began teaching private lessons as a way to pay for my tuition and my clientele grew very quickly and I founded MindaMusic school in 2000 and I have been teachinb ever since.
I love what I do and I've made more money doing other careers such as fashion design but I much prefer teaching music! I find it much more rewarding. I love playing music and want to share that gift with others.
What types of students have you worked with?
I love working with all types of students. From ages 3 up to 87. I have taught students with special needs and students in the gifted programs. I love students who are passionate and want to play their instrument daily. I am excited to teach students who are shy and need help finding their musical light!
