I got started teaching in the early 2000s in Kingsville, TX working with a friend who would later go on to coach Boys varsity basketball in Flafurrias, TX. At that time, Kingsville had a program that had only once made the playoffs in school history (they used to only take Top 2 in a district). Our boys would go on to play in 3 straight Regionals, including falling to SA Lanier the year they went to State.

Since then, I have worked with my own teams at the Club level, youth level, and assisted over the last two decades.

I have worked with boys and girls from 4th grade to Varsity level talent encompassing all ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Further, my background as a UIL official, live broadcast analyst, reporter, and player gives me insight to the game and athlete that few people have.

Watching a player I coached a couple summers ago starting for Alamo Heights in the playoffs recently.

And seeing him compete on an even level and impact the game against Wagner, who went on to the State Tournament, was especially fun...even in a loss.

Find a coach who is going to care about you getting the most out of this game possible.

It doesn't matter your size, height, gender, body type, natural athleticism, etc...find a coach who will take the gifts you have and teach you how to get the most out of them while developing the mental, mechanical, and technical aspects of the game.

They should ask themselves the honest question of "Am I committed to learn, both mentally and physically, thus justifying the investment into these lessons?"
