Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know the student and what thier particular interest is and what direction they would like to go in thier training with me. This helps me train them on thier level and allows the student to do a subject they are interested in keeping the class exciting to them!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a self taught artist and began at the age of 3yrs old! Have now been painting for 42 years, and have been featured in many magazines, articles, galleries, art centers, and even a museum. I will have my 1st Art Collectors book premier later this year and will have book signings for them as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My 1st class is more of a consultation to allow the student to review what we will be covering and is free.
Each session is an hour and a half and costs $100 a session.
If student pre-purchases more than one session at a time price drops to $75 a session.
How did you get started teaching?
I taught for many years in other fields and began free lance teaching Art in 2010 and have done it ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from ages 10 to late 70's from beginners to more advanced artsist looking to expand on thier skill and perfect thier technique.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Was involved with an art association that hired me to do a judging of an art contest at the local art center. It was very interesting to see all the different works, and was an honor to do this as well.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for the quality in your instructor and the time they have spent in thier field! This will allow you to get the best out of the instruction you are seeking. The more the instructor has been involved with, the more you can expect to learn from them.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is it that you want to learn in terms of style and technique?
What direction do you want to take your art?
Is this a hobby or do you plan on developing this into more purpose?
