FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The first lesson is crucial to setting up a great first impression. I'm professional, caring, knowledgeable, and supportive. I like to dive right into showing a new student something they can play right away. It helps build confidence in there playing ability and sets them up for future success.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've been a musician for 29 years and teaching for 15 years. I received my formal training at Texas State University where I studied Classical Guitar and Music Education while also playing in Hard Rock bands in San Antonio. While still in college, I started teaching music privately to help pay for my education. I soon found myself with a successful business and decided to focus on it full time.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I have three pricing plans to choose from.

1. $20 for each thirty minute lesson.

2. $30 for each forty-five minute lesson.

3. $40 for each one hour lesson.

Lessons will take place once a week, online, through a webcam in the the comfort of your own home. Payments are to be made monthly for the entire month, due at the first lesson of each month. Due to the amount of students currently enrolled I do not offer make up lessons for any cancelled lessons. You will still be charged for each cancelled lesson.

How did you get started teaching?

I always had a desire to teach others what I know about music so naturally I decided to teach. I attended Texas State University where I studied Classical Guitar and majored in Music Education. I have to say it is an absolute privilege teaching music to students of all ages for a living. I couldn't imagine doing anything more fulfilling.

What types of students have you worked with?

I've had the pleasure of working with some of the most amazing students who have made my career so fulfilling. I've taught 100's of students from the young to the young at heart; from ages 5 to 65 and every age in between. I've also been very successful working with special needs students and students with learning disabilities.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I'm currently working with a student who is autistic. His name is Michael and he is an amazing piano player. Teaching him has really taught me just how much potential exists in each one of us and my ability to develop their skills and talents not only as a musician but more importantly as a human being. I'm very proud to call him my student.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

The right mix of a good attitude, experience, patients, enthusiasm, and expertise is key. Also, their ability to connect with others with proven methods that get results is crucial to a music students proper development. And most importantly do they genuinely care about helping others to succeed rather than just collecting a pay check.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What are some of the biggest challenges you are facing in your guitar playing, piano playing, or sound recording development right now?

What things have you tried in order to solve your guitar, piano, or sound recording problems up until now and why have they not worked for you?

If you and I start working together, what is the number one obstacle in your guitar playing, piano playing, or sound recording development you want me to help you overcome in the next 90 days?
