I Studied cello with great teachers, giants. I have insights into the perspective of finding new ways of approaching to cello playing. I teach all levels, from beginner to college students, auditions to technique and interpretation. I also teach ALL AGES, 5 years old to 104! A little about me: Marcelo is a concert cellist. Since 2006, he performs regularly with his duo: “Duo La note Bleue”. He performs as Member of the Houston Latin Philharmonic. Concert cellist, recitalist, lecturer, online teaching to the world! Marcelo taught as Cello professor at Houston Community College. Marcelo made his New York City debut in 2012. and In Bellas Artes, Mexico, in 2014. As a recitalist, and soloist with the orchestra he has performed in New York, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Mississippi, and Miami In Europe, he has performed in France, Ireland, and Germany. Frequent soloist in the US, Mexico, in his native Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil as a soloist with orchestra, piano and presenting Master Classes in Universities.
Marcelo received a full scholarship from The University of Houston where he studied with Vagram Saradjian (who was a student of Rostropovich) and obtained his diploma of Doctor in Musical Arts in Cello performance. He also holds two Masters Degrees (Cello Performance and Music Composition) from The University of Missouri-Kansas City where he had scholarships to study with cellist Nina Gordon and Composition with famous composer Chen Yi. He completed his undergraduate studies, at the National Conservatory of Music of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been a member of several professional orchestras in Argentina and The United States. I immensely enjoy teaching because I see the process of learning as a two-way path for both, the student and the teacher, to acquire new knowledge, finding new ways, logics, models to get some technical and musical results.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I asses the students' strengths and needs along with his/her interests and goals. Once the goals and expectations are clarified, I establish a plan of study. I always encourage the exchange of ideas, questions, and areas of interest to have a clear vision of what we would like to accomplish.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My Bachelor in Music Education was a seven-year program in Music Education. During and after my Masters in Cello and Music Composition I was teaching as well as performing and composing. During my Doctorate program, I have international performances, and opportunities to teach students of many different backgrounds. I have a solid education with many years of experience as an educator and performer. I have also been teaching successfully online using cameras, videos, and software tools to enhance the learning experience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
One hour lessson is $100. It is also possible to have 1/2 hour, 45 minutes and 1 hour and 1/2 lessons if desired.
Online lessons are great because of the use of camera angles, software and all lesson plans have complementary videos explaining the material covered in class.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching privately and at private schools when I was a 16 year-old advanced student at The National Conservatory of Argentina.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught 5-year-old children and up, young high school and college students as well as adults who love to express themselves with the cello.
My classes are for all levels and ages. From beginners, high school and college students preparing auditions, chamber music to adult amateurs who enjoy learning the cello.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I remember teaching a master class at the University of Mexico City. When we finished, two students came and thank me for helping them with their technique and interpretation. They told me that despite being a musician with clear musical convictions they liked I was also interested in listening to their ideas and approaches rather than imposing my own.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise to examine the teacher's background, experience and take a trial lesson and test if his/her approach has an impact on the student's playing.
