About

I am the managing owner of Compliments LLC, a boutique wellness company providing healthy lifestyle solutions. We take an interdisciplinary and modern 'lifestyle-as-medicine' approach by providing health education, fitness training & wellness coaching programs that recognizes everyone has evolving goals and every body has challenges that are unique to them. We work with people that are at-risk for chronic health conditions and/or struggle with adopting & maintaining key lifestyle habits to: prevent and reduce risk of disease, better manage weight and/or chronic conditions, optimize their level of physical health and well-being.

Wellness is multifaced and a healthy lifestyle is essential to age well. From the moment we are born, we are aging! I know first-hand the value of aging well from personal and professional experiences that include over twenty-five years of experience in the fields of healthcare, fitness and health education.

As a holistic health coach and fitness practitioner, I believe biopsychosocial factors are the determinants of health. I believe the right exercise, nourishment and attitude are the foundational keys to attaining and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Compliments LLC is an authorized American Safety & Health Institute Training Center licensed to certify individuals in CPR, First Aid and other safety courses.

I enjoy helping people 'flourish' into a better version of themselves - from becoming more fit and improving body confidence to eating better for weight loss, to managing stress to sleep better, to improving mobility for greater physical independence.

The class was well structured and insightful. It was easy to follow and to learn the different concepts around CPR. I loved the situational awareness concept to reduce and control panic. The hands-on part was extremely helpful to practice class concepts. The instructor emphasizes the situational awareness approach while maintaining proper technique. The instructor had no issue answering all levels of questions and genuinely cared for us learning these critical skills.

    Frequently asked questions

The process for working with a new student is a collaborative approach that begins with the student completing a self-assessment that addresses their health and fitness history, lifestyle habits, body composition, skill abilities and preferences.  A consultation follows to review the assessment, discuss their unique goals and current health status to set goal(s); determine how to best maximize their abilities and create a sustainable practice of positive habits for optimized physical health and well-being.  We agree on an initial plan and time-frame for implementation.

I hold a Master of Science degree in Health Education, a Master of Arts in Psychology and a CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) credential.  I have over twenty-five years of experience in the fields of healthcare, fitness and health education.  I have held a faculty position in the Physical Health Education Department at Richland College for over five years.  I am also a certified health coach, Prevent T2 lifestyle coach, fitness trainer and yoga instructor with multiple speciality certifications/training (i.e., stability, tai chi, self-myofascial release, barre, etc.).  I am a credentialed First Aid and CPR instructor, over twenty years experience, and the director of an American Health Safety Institute (ASHI) Training Center that provides the following classes:  CPR AED, First Aid, Pediatric CPR AED and First Aid.

Most services are sold packages, renewable month-to-month.  Each package is priced for (4) sessions/lessons, with additional add-on sessions/lessons at a reduced rate.

CPR and/or First Aid certification courses are blended learning - priced to include an online course AND 'in-person' practice and skills check.  The online course must be successfully completed as a prerequisite for the practice and skills check.  Successful completion of an 'in-person' practice and skills check is required to obtain certification.

Growing up I was always been involved with dance and sports, evolving into a high school tennis athlete.  I've always had an interest in health and began working in a hospital in 1993.  Because of my desire to stay active, I started teaching group fitness classes in the early 90's and became a certified fitness trainer in 1996.  My growing interest in direct patient and caregiver health moved me from the administrative/management side of healthcare to health education.  I find this to be my calling, per se.  Over time, my interests have evolved and have led me to where I am today.

I have worked with clients, patients and their caregivers, affected by metabolic health conditions, neuromuscular disorders and cardiovascular disease as well as overweight and obese individuals, athletes, active older adults, tweens to teens, pre/post-natal women and individuals with chronic health conditions. I also teach Kinesiology First Aid and Physical Health Education classes to freshman and sophmore level college students.

In the Fall of 2019, I was a presenter at an international conference discussing my study and research findings based on the topic, "Wellness Coaching to Promote and Increase Physical Activity among middle-aged to older adults".
